Torchlight is currently recruiting for the following roles:

Security, Risk and Resilience Trainer

Location: Chicksands, Bedfordshire

We are looking for an energetic and experienced security risk management instructor with an evidenced record of the delivery and development of training to join our team at Chicksands. You will have relevant military experience to relate the training requirement to real-life scenarios. This role will be on a fixed-term basis, for a period of 5 years (with possible break at the 3-year point).

You will be joining a 3-person team of highly experienced security and intelligence professionals responsible for delivering a range of security courses. The training we provide will enable various security officer roles within the MoD to conduct the Security Risk Management process for the protection of information, personnel, and equipment assets. This role would be ideal for former Intelligence Corps, RAF Police, RN Regulators or other former military/civilian personnel with detailed knowledge and experience of MoD Security Policies.

Working within the Counter-Intelligence, Security and Resilience Branch at DITG Chicksands, you will develop and deliver security training to a mixed military and civil service audience. You will also regularly review training material to ensure its currency in line with the Government Functional Standard (GovS-007 Security), formerly Security Policy Framework and various Training Requirements Authorities. In doing so your inputs will support the continual improvement of the security training output of the Defence community.

We would love you to have…
    • Experience in training and instructing, delivering courses within a classroom environment
    • Familiarity with MoD security policy, including JSP440
    • Significant counterintelligence and preventative security experience
    • An understanding of IT security and cyber threats is desirable
    • Appropriate operational experience (ideally within a military environment)
    • Current UK Government Security Clearance
    • The ability to start in January 2022.

Key Responsibilities
    • Instructing on respective specialist security courses within CI Branch, ensuing all teaching outcomes are met
    • Creating and maintaining currency of course documentation and outline resources
    • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of MoD security policies including single service guidelines
    • Preparing and delivering specialist lessons and briefing, both internally and externally as required
Skills & Knowledge
    • Professional qualification in education and training or Defence Train the Trainer (or other relevant equivalent qualification)
    • DITSO trained (desirable though not essential)
    • Experience delivering Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) compliant training courses

International Development Manager

Location: UK (hybrid role but commutable to London or Swindon), with international travel

We are looking for an International Development Manager with experience in the International Aid and Development sector to join our expanding team. The role encompasses identifying, solutioning, managing and growing a diverse portfolio of development projects in the areas of serious and organised crime, transnational threats, counter terrorism, and intelligence, delivering value that exceeds the expectation of our clients.

The opportunities you will be identifying, developing proposals for, and supporting delivery on, will span overseas short-term training tasks to large-scale capacity building projects in fragile and conflicted affected states and you will be comfortable identifying, winning, and managing these. You will be able to leverage a range of international development frameworks, with a particular focus on opportunities tendered through the International Directorate of the Home Office.

Key Responsibilities
    • Lead on opportunity identification, capture, pursuit, and proposal development.
    • Lead competitive tenders including the design of technical approaches and methodologies.
    • Grow your client accounts.
    • Support the technical delivery of programmes.
    • Deliver sustainable performance through effective pipeline management.
    • Lead review activities, including detecting and forecasting future trends to inform a detailed understanding of the market.
Skills & Knowledge
    • An understanding of the International Aid and Development Sector.
    • Relevant technical knowledge (including, working with two or more of the following: FCDO, Home Office, National Crime Agency, Ministry of Defence, USAID, or the UN).
    • Excellent networking skills, an able influencer and deal closer.
    • The ability to develop networks of local partners and subject matter experts to support and enhance technical proposals and project delivery.
