Torchlight is currently recruiting for the following roles:

Security and Risk Trainer

Location: Bedfordshire

We are looking for an energetic and experienced security risk instructor to join our team. You will have relevant military experience to relate the training requirement to real-life scenarios, or an understanding of MoD Security Policy and its applicability.

You will be joining a 3-person team of experienced security and intelligence professionals responsible for delivering a range of courses. The training we provide will enable various security officer roles within the MoD to conduct the Security Risk Management process for the protection of information, personnel, and equipment assets.

This role would be ideal for former Intelligence Corps, RAF Police, RN Regulators or other former military/civilian personnel with detailed knowledge and experience of MoD Security Policies.

You will develop and deliver security training to a mixed military and civil service audience. You will also regularly review training material to ensure its currency in line with the Government Functional Standard (GovS-007 Security), formerly Security Policy Framework and various Training Requirements Authorities. In doing so your inputs will support the continual improvement of the security training output of the Defence community.

We would love you to have…
    • Experience in training and instructing, delivering courses within a classroom environment
    • Familiarity with MoD security policy, including JSP440
    • Significant counterintelligence and preventative security experience
    • An understanding of IT security and cyber threats is desirable (but not essential)
    • Current UK Government Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain it)
    • The ability to start ASAP

Key Responsibilities
    • Instructing on respective specialist security courses, ensuing all teaching outcomes are met
    • Creating and maintaining currency of course documentation and outline resources
    • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of MoD security policies including single service guidelines
    • Preparing and delivering specialist lessons and briefing, both internally and externally as required
Skills & Knowledge
    • Professional qualification in education and training or Defence Train the Trainer (or other relevant equivalent qualification)
    • DITSO trained (desirable though not essential)
    • Experience delivering Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) compliant training courses

Bid Manager | International Development

Location: London, Westminster
Salary: £45,000 to £57,500 D.O.E

Our programmes to date have seen us operate in 45 countries, supporting over 70 different beneficiary organisations. We are now embarking upon our next exciting chapter in which we are significantly increasing the scope and scale of our operation alongside our sister organisation, Axiom International. Our Opportunity:

We have a great opportunity for a Bid Manager to join our friendly team of high performing International Development professionals; based in our Westminster office. This is a high-profile role where you will be influencing at senior levels, ensuring that projects are “winnable” and “deliverable”. You will be the overall person in charge for all aspects of delivering a bid from analysing, assessing and de-constructing client SORs/ITTs up to the creation of a robust initial project baseline following the contract award that you have successfully secured (and responsible for all the bits in between!).

Key Responsibilities
    • Bringing structure, clarity and governance to the process and discipline relating to the end-to-end management of the Group bid process
    • Leading Bid Kick-Off meetings and subsequent Gate process, providing direction and engagement with the Bid Team, support Consortia and/or associates
    • Working collaboratively with a team of thematic experts to ensure the successful development and submission of high quality, winning bids
    • Ensuring rigor to change control, commercial awareness and stakeholder management
    • Driving continuous improvement, through post-bid reviews, requesting / collating / presenting client Feedback and ensuring all future bids reflect ‘lessons learned’
    • Monitor tendering portals and proactively identify new frameworks and funding streams
Skills & Knowledge
    • Have worked in a previous bid management role and can demonstrate experience in delivering against multiple successful bids, preferably UK Government tenders, specifically the FCDO, Home Office, and CSSF
    • Possess a good understanding and working knowledge of the bid lifecycle – capture, qualification, developing capture plans, winning strategies and proposal writing
    • Be experienced and adept at building and managing strong, long-lasting relationships across customers, partners, suppliers and internal stakeholders
    • Possess excellent communication and influencing skills with experience driving multidisciplinary teams to successful bid completion, experience aligning deliverables with customer requirements and submission deadlines
    • You bring structure to complex situations whilst maintaining a calm and reassuring presence
    • Commercially astute – able to understand, analyse and estimate fiscal data
    • Have specific working knowledge of industry standard approaches to bid management (Shipley or similar)
    • Degree educated and/or certified to APMP foundation Level or Project Management qualification or possess suitable compensatory skills and experience.
